the heart of beautiful Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. We are a growing
group of disciples of Jesus Christ who come from all walks of life. We

of many kinds are available to meet the needs of people. Read on, get
acquainted, and come visit and check us out!
A Brief History
Bear Creek Community Church is a Bible-centered, conservative evangelical
church with a unique history. We are happily associated with a larger family
of churches called the
Evangelical Missionary Church of Canada and appreciate the many
strengths of this association. However, we have a history that is truly
reflective of a community church where Christians of diverse backgrounds
celebrate our unity in Jesus Christ.

In some ways the history of BCCC is like a three-stranded cord. On March 22,
1987 the first strand of the cord, a new church called "Surrey Neighbourhood
Church", was started in the Newton area of Surrey, B.C. Two years later in
January of 1989, the second strand, "New Life Community Church", began
worship services in central Surrey. In April of 1990, the third strand was
added. "Grace Evangelical Church", a church in South Vancouver, made the
decision to sell their property and re-locate to Surrey, joining together in
ministry with the Surrey Neighbourhood Church. These two congregations now
called themselves "Bear Creek Park Church".
1993. In a process bathed in prayer and characterized by joy and unity, Bear
Creek Park Church and New Life Community Church amalgamated to become "Bear
Creek Community Church" – a name that reflects both our location and our
love for people in the surrounding central Surrey area, as well as further a
field.
And so we declare with joy, "He has brought us this far by grace!" God has
been much at work in the history of how this church came together. He
continues to evidence his healing, restoring, life-changing power in the
present. We invite you to join us in discovering God’s very real working in
our everyday lives.
Our Facilities
We have been blessed with the provision of a modern, spacious church
building located at the intersection of 140th Street and 84th Avenue. Our
property sits on the south-east corner of Surrey’s beautiful Bear Creek
Park, and is in a beautiful park-like setting with the surrounding trees,
shrubs and greenery on three sides. At the same time we are on a major
traffic artery and across the street from lovely residential developments.
Our building, dedicated in 1997, has a multi-purpose worship centre that
seats close to 400. It is supported by modern educational, office, kitchen
and child care facilities.
The Bear Creek Community Church building is a busy place! Weekly worship
services and ministries for children, youth and adults provide care for all
ages. We also partner with the Punjabi Christian Centre Fellowship; a
congregational ministry to the Indo-Canadian people of the Surrey area
(meets Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m.). We all enjoy our weekly coffee times
together on Sunday mornings following our individual worship services, and
being able to keep in touch with each other then, as well as at other times.
The Bear Creek Children’s Centre Daycare (604-596-1599) is kept hopping
Monday to Friday with children from 30 months to five years of age. They are
committed to the positive development of children. The Cornerstone
Montessori School (604-599-9918) holds daily pre-school classes here at our
church as well. These children all bring a dimension of life and vitality to
the church each day!
Many churches sit empty and largely unused for much of the week, but not so
here. Many of the hours not already filled by BCCC and the above groups are
then occupied by Christian Korean Presbyterian Church, Vancouver Global
Mission Church (604-588-3277). Vancouver Youth for Christ partners with us
to offer TaeKwonDo classes with a Christian emphasis two afternoons a week.
Various special congregational activities and community events ensure that
we will be good stewards of the buildings and grounds God has entrusted to
us.
Our Congregation
Perhaps the thing that characterizes Bear Creek Community Church most is a
sense of love and unity in the midst of diversity. The coming together of
three separate strands meant that many differences had to be worked through
in order to result in a strong new blended church family. The resulting
respect and care for one another is evident as one gets to know members of
this congregation. As a people we come from not only different backgrounds,
but also have several different ethnic origins evident in our midst. Blue
collar, white collar, business, professional, black, white, brown – all are
welcome and loved here. We invite you, if you are wanting to "check out
church", to give us a visit.
Our Worship and Ministries
Our worship is contemporary and upbeat. We believe every Sunday morning
should be a time of inspiration and experiencing the presence of God.
Several different worship teams take turns leading us in singing and worship
in the 10:00 a.m. Sunday morning services. The preached messages are solidly
biblical and geared to be practical for everyday living. Special guests,
prayer for needs, and other features keep the services interesting. At 10:30
a.m., children and youth leave for their weekly Sunday School Bible study
classes that are conducted simultaneously with the remainder of the service.
A variety of ministries are in place to meet the needs of folks who are
longing to know God and be equipped to handle the challenges of life. Check
out some the other pages to get the details on those that may be of interest
to you.
Ministries are geared to Children, Youth, Women, Men, and Families. Check
out the individual pages, bulletin of weekly activities, or event calendar
to be informed of what is coming up. You can call the church office
(604-590-5957) or email us for more information

available to those who may be in need of talking with someone about their
life’s challenges. Contact them by calling the church office (604-590-5957)
or by e-mail.
